She is a very attractive young woman, \r\8a and her company would certainly be appreciated during \r\8a the long voyage south, but the agents of Naar have \r\8a been known to adopt many guises to further their evil \r\8a aims. Fernant, sensing your reticence, attempts to \r\8a persuade you by explaining the predicament in which \r\8a Oriah has been placed through no fault of her own.\r

+ You learn that Oriah is the daughter of Khazullo - \r\8a the Funtal of Fio Fadali - a rich, powerful, and very \r\8a ruthless man. He has pledged his daughter's hand in \r\8a marriage to Sesketera, the ruler of the city-state of \r\8a Ghol-Tabras in northern Shadaki. Sesketera is a cruel \r\8a and brutal suitor, and Oriah will be sure to spend \r\8a the rest of her life as little more than his slave if \r\8a the marriage takes place as her father has planned. \r\8a Her father is deaf to her wishes; his only concern is \r\8a for the political union of the two cities. His \r\8a daughter's happiness means nothing to him when \r\8a compared to the riches and power he will gain from a \r\8a marriage to the House of Sesketera. \r

+ Oriah has run away from her father's palace in Fio \r\8a Fadali and she has sought refuge in Barrakeesh. But \r\8a agents in the employ of her father and Sesketera, \r\8a have traced her to the capital and now she must flee \r\8a once more. Fernant, moved by the plight of this brave \r\8a young woman, has pledged to help her reach Bisutan \r\8a where trusted friends will smuggle her to safety in \r\8a neighbouring Kakush. \r

He \r\8a has his servant take Oriah to an adjoining chamber, \r\8a and he offers you the use of a room upstairs. It is a \r\8a very warm and humid night and you decide that perhaps \r\8a it would be more comfortable if you were to sleep \r\8a outside on the roof. Fernant has his servant bring \r\8a you a mattress upon which you settle down to sleep \r\8a under the desert stars.\r
