Floods and mudslides render \r\8a the mountain trail impassable, and you are unable to \r\8a leave the shelter of the ancient keep until early on \r\8a the morning of the third day. Anxious to make up for \r\8a lost time, you depart as soon as the rains cease. \r

+ A further two days are spent riding the treacherous \r\8a trail. It takes you across the northern foothills of \r\8a the Dammerdons to the Lunarlian settlement of Jaroc. \r\8a It is mid-morning, fifteen days before Harvestmas, \r\8a when finally you enter the palisade wall of this \r\8a sprawling border town. Few of the people you find \r\8a here are natives. Most are nomadic horsemen from the \r\8a Great Lunarlian Plain who have come to barter and \r\8a trade their wares at its famous tented market. As you \r\8a ride through the bustling market place, you pause for \r\8a a few moments to observe a quarrel between a trader \r\8a and a nomad. The nomad is accusing the trader of \r\8a selling him some rotten food, and he demands the \r\8a return of his money. The trader refuses. In \r\8a desperation, the nomad turns to you and holds out his \r\8a purchase at arm's length.\r
